Manor Marine, an OEG Offshore Company, has been awarded a contract for the build and delivery of a new cargo-carrying barge for the Ascension Island Government.
The award of this project follows the successful delivery of an identical cargo-carrying barge in 2021. The new 17 metre self-propelled barge is commissioned for shipping to and use in the Ascension Island waters; the previous pontoons fabricated for the Ascension Island Government by Manor Marine were also commissioned for the same purpose. This project has been made possible due to International Programme funding provided by The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
Leif Cooper, Managing Director at Manor Marine commented, “This build represents the fifth barge of this class that we have built at Manor Marine. It is always nice to receive repeat business and is testament to our quality production and end product.”
Construction of the pontoon started in February 2023 and the build will be scheduled for delivery in January 2024.
